A Delicious Dinner

Swam and Likely are very good friends. They live in a small house with a big garden. The garden has many green trees and colorful flowers. There are red roses, yellow daisies, and bluebells. Every day, they do many things together. They play games in the grass, they read books under the trees, and they walk in the park. Sometimes they see birds and squirrels in the park. The birds have colorful feathers and sing songs. The squirrels are small and brown and they run fast. Today is a special day because it is Friday. On Fridays, they always have a big dinner. They like to cook and eat together. It makes them feel happy and warm. They love their home and they love their friends. Now it is time for dinner. Swam and Likely are very hungry. Their bellies make a loud noise because they did not eat much during the day. They walk to the kitchen. The kitchen is a very nice place. It is big, bright, and clean. There are many windows in the kitchen. The sun is shining through the windows. The walls are white and the floor is light brown. There is a big wooden table in the middle of the room. On this table, there is a lot of food. There are bowls, plates, and glasses of water. The food smells very good. Swam and Likely look at all the food on the table. They feel excited because they know the food is tasty. Swam looks at the food first. He wants something salty. Swam does not like sweet things for dinner. He likes meat and vegetables. Specifically, he likes bacon, beef, and beans. He looks around the table and sees a big bowl of beef and beans. The beef is brown and the beans are small and soft. It looks very tasty. Swam takes the big bowl. He puts it on the table in front of him. He sits down and begins to eat his dinner. He eats slowly but he eats every bit of the beef and beans. He likes how the beef tastes. The beef is salty and good. The beans are soft and easy to eat. Swam is very happy because this is his favorite food. He thinks about how lucky he is to have such a great meal. He feels full and content. Likely looks at the food too. Likely is different from Swam. She wants something sweet for her dinner. She does not want meat or salty beans. She likes fruit and cakes. Likely chooses chocolate cake, red apples, and yellow bananas. She sees a red apple on a plate. The apple is big and round. She takes the apple first. She eats the apple slowly. It tastes very sweet and fresh. After the apple, she takes the bananas. There are two yellow bananas on the table. She takes one banana and feels it. The banana is soft and sweet. Likely loves fruit because it gives her energy. Now it is time for the cake. Likely takes a piece of chocolate cake. The cake is dark brown and looks very good. She eats the cake slowly, bit by bit. The cake is delicious and rich. Likely smiles because she likes the cake more than anything else. She feels very happy with her sweet treats. Swam and Likely sit together at the big wooden table. They are not in a rush. They talk about their dinner while they eat. Swam says, "I like my beef and beans. It is the best food I have ever had." Likely says, "I like my cake and fruit. The apple was very sweet and the cake is wonderful." They are glad they have good food to eat in their home. They feel very full now. Their bellies are big and round. They do not want any more food because they have eaten so much. They lean back in their chairs and feel relaxed. They talk about the things they did during the day. They talk about the birds they saw in the park and the books they read together. It is a peaceful time for them. Before they go to sleep, they think about the next few days. They think about the games they will play on Saturday. They might walk to the river or visit the old bridge. The river has clear water and small fish. The fish are silver and swim fast. They wash the bowls and plates with soap and water. They rub the plates until they are very clean. They put the bowls away in the cupboard. They put the plates away where they belong. Now the kitchen is clean again. The floor is clean and the table is empty. They feel proud of their work because they like a clean house. They walk slowly to their rooms. They are tired because it was a long day. They go back to the bed. They pull the blankets over their bodies to stay warm. They close their eyes and feel the soft pillows under their heads. As they fall asleep, they dream of more delicious food. They dream of big cakes, red apples, and bowls of beef and beans. They dream of the colorful flowers in the garden and the flowers in the park. They are very happy in their dreams and they sleep soundly until the morning comes. They know that tomorrow will be another good day with their friend. They feel safe and warm in their small house. Swam and Likely also think about the things they love most. Swam loves the way the wind feels on his face when he runs in the grass. He loves the smell of the rain on the dry earth. He loves the sound of the birds singing in the trees every morning. These small things make him feel very glad to be alive. Likely loves the colors of the world around her. She loves the bright red of the roses and the deep blue of the sky. She loves how the yellow sun feels warm on her skin during the day.
